Ineke Hans (NL, 1966) graduated at the Royal College of Art in London in 1995 and set up her designstudio INEKEHANS/ARNHEM in Holland in 1998.
Initially presenting and producing her own collections, the focus has moved to industrial design and commissions since 2005. The studio works on a wide range of 3d projects: furniture, products and jewellery come as one-offs, small batch products, and mass-produced items. Next to that they work on exhibitions and some architectural projects. Clients include manufactures like: Arco, Cappellini, Chi ha paura...?, Iittala, Lensvelt, Magis, Offecct, Royal Ahrend, RoyalVKB, SCP, Swarovski, van Esch.
Ineke's early work centred around pictograms and archetypes, but her designs have evolved in many ways; investigating the psychological roots of products, perceiving and playing with the interaction between people, objects and space.
Old and brand new production methods are used in intelligent, unconventional ways. Innovation in materials and techniques and re-thinking of existing human values and habits have become most important triggers for new work and make it multi layered and playful.
Ineke was 'Guest of Honour' at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2009. Her work won many awards, such as Red Dot, Good Design and Design Plus awards and is purchased by leading collectors and museums. Her 380 chair (2010) has been awarded many times and is seen as a landmark chair for Ahrend.
'Black Bazaar - design dilemma's' came out on her work in 2003 and 'MIND-SETS' in 2010. Both publications contain reviews on her designs by international writers and give insight in her ways of thinking.
