Lin Cheung (Hampshire, UK, 1971) graduated with a Masters Degree in Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewelry from the Royal College of Art, London in 1997. She is an international jewelry artist, living and working in the UK and her practice is shaped by a questioning and curious attitude towards what jewelry is and what it could be. Lin is interested in exploring the full potential of jewelry, both as a designed and crafted object and as a philosophical expression of the human condition through personal, collaborative and public projects.
Teaching, lecturing and international workshops include: ‘The Social Life of Jewelry’ 2011 & 2012, Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, Austria; ‘Without You I Am Nothing’, 2012, St Lucas University College of Art and Design Antwerp, Belgium and since 2009 is a Senior Lecturer on the BA Jewelry course at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, London, UK.
Notable exhibitions and commissions include: ‘Unexpected Pleasures – The Art and Design of Contemporary Jewelry’ 2012, Design Museum, London; ‘The Modern Jewel – In time and the mind of others’ 2011, mima, UK; ‘Transplantation – A sense of place and culture’ 2012, touring UK & Australia, and designing the London 2012 Paralympic Games Medal.
